He'll be 2-years old in December. 14-1/2"
Reason he's for sale is that I don't really like to keep males and I need to make room for started pups.
He's had a lot of hare shot in front of him already this season. He has a superb nose and runs cottontail and hare. He does some cold-trailing and can be mouthy at times (all associated with his big nose, I believe), but he produces rabbits. He gets the job done. Runs well on snow. Has a chop voice that's pretty loud and is medium to medium-fast speed. Handles good. Healthy -- has had all shots, wormings, etc.
30-day trial -- Pay when you pick him up and bring him back if you don't like him. Price is not negotiable.

'Scotty' AKC registered 4 year old male
12-1/2" (picture of dog to the right)
Attributes: Medium
speed, Average chop voice. Average jump dog.
Strengths: Best line control in the kennel; excellent nose and handles most any condition. Handles well and comes when called (as long as he's not running -- [smile]).
Weaknesses: If he's not run regularly he has a few extra barks at strange times -- usually when first let out of the dog box. It happens about 1/3 of the time he's run. It's usually not more than 6 or 8 barks and lasts for under 10 seconds, but I'd want to know about it if I were the one buying him. I'm pretty picky and it wasn't bad enough to bother me.
He has had a lot of hare shot in front of him alone and in a pack this season.
Reason for selling: He struggles to keep up with my other (15") hounds -- especially in deeper snow. He just has to work too hard. He actually runs a better, more consistent line than the bigger dogs, but doesn't get enough done with a fast pack to warrant me keeping him. He will make someone a super nice hunting dog, and would be a perfect one dog pack as he can do it all himself and would probably be competitive in SPO or a slower LP on rabbit or hare if the new owner desired to trial him--he has placed in SPOH. $750 or possible trade for firearm(s), tracking equipment, etc. He is truly a good dog and the sale price is NOT negotiable.
30 day, money back if not satisfied, trial to ensure he's what I say he is, and what you want.
April Update: He was tried out for 30 days by a gentleman from NY. He brought him back because he wasn't exactly what he was looking for. Said he was a super nice little dog, but wouldn't lead the pack at the beagle club. I'm going to point out again that he is not fast. He will not lead a large pack of dogs. He'll be running the line while others are not, and he will run the rabbit until it's dead. He's a valuable member of our pack and we have taken him out alone in nasty conditions and he gets the job done when others can't. He's a slower medium speed, careful, close on the checks dog that runs a nice rabbit. I suspect he'll be a nice cottontail dog because of these traits.
